BIG NEWS - GEBR HAS PUPPIES ON THE WAY!!!

Thank you so much to Kendra & Steve from Gilroy who welcomed momma Lucy with open arms.  Pups are due in 2-3 weeks.  Lucy is a bagel (a basset/beagle mix), a very cute and sweet bagel, found as a stray and unclaimed... her pregnancy was a huge surprise to the people who found her and who were totally unequipped to keep her and a litter and they turned to Rescue for help.  GEBR will be starting a FirstGiving page to help pay for their care... watch this space.  In the meantime, follow Lucy's BLOG that Kendra is keeping up - (CLICK HERE) - for photos and news!

****UPDATE****

Jill Peterson is out of hospital and beginning recovery

She is slowly picking up the pieces and wants to thank all of those who donated funds to help pay for kenneling at her vet office during the emergency.  She recuperated at Daphneyland and owes a huge thank you to Dawn Smith for her nursing care... and for taking her rescue dogs once they could be moved!

Funds are, of course, still very welcome, especially with the pups on their way!

Please use the PayPal button on the left hand side to donate urgently! Or use the Firstgiving page that has been set up specially for this crisis... click HERE

GEBR IS IN CRISIS!!

Due to the lack of foster homes, GEBR may soon no longer be able to take in homeless bassets.

Foster homes are  vital to help us continue our work with homeless bassets.

Golden Gate Basset Rescue is full themselves after taking in and finding foster homes for 61 bassets.

Once again Basset Rescue Network, Inc (Daphneyland) has bailed us out but they can no longer keep doing so.  They have their own large area to cover and 100 hounds to care for.

Please help us cover our own area & save basset lives.  Fostering is not easy & is not for everybody.  Read our foster information page HERE.  If you would like to be part of rescue and do one of the most rewarding jobs in rescue contact:

Jill at jpx@sbcglobal.net

or

Dian at golden_empire@att.net

Other positions are also available.  If you have a specific job or skill that you would like to put to use please contact us at the above email adresses.

THANK YOU

Highlighted Dogs
See all the Dogs!
  Maggie
Maggie is a 2 1/2 year old basset hound.  She is spayed and up to date on her shots.  Maggie has been moved from home to home quite a bit in her young life and as such she is a bit timid when meeting new people and dogs.  We would not recommend Maggie for a home with very young children.  Maggie prefers women over men and her personality is best described as moody and pouty.  She will test the boundarys and rules.  Maggie will need a stable routine and home life.&nb...read more about Maggie
  Dusty
Dusty is a great guy.  He would love to have a home of his own with lots of property to patrol.  He is a great watch dog and has a distinctive bark.  Dusty is currently working on learning how to walk on a leash.  He loves people and other dogs.  He is a bit cautious when he first meets people but he warms up quickly.  He likes to ride in the car and he loves the dog parks.  Dusty is a mixed breed.  As near as we can tell he has some Basset Hound, Queensla...read more about Dusty
  Trish
Trish is a very sweet girl who wants to be by your side.  She is a good watch dog.  She loves to go for walks, rides in the car and dog parks.  Basically she is happy to do any activity that involves her people.  She does not like men.  we feel she will come around but is going to need paitence and loving care.   She will chase and bark at cats.  Trish is ready to find her forever family to share her life with.
  Clemmentine
Clemmentine is one of our Golden Girls.  She was very overweight when she first came to rescue.  She was placed on a diet and just recently had surgery to be spayed and have two mammary tumors removed.  She is now back in her foster home and ruling the roost.  She has no problem telling the younger bassets to move out of her way.  She enjoys her food and is protective of her food.  Clemmy is missing a few of her upper molars but that sure does not stop her from eati...read more about Clemmentine
  GE Newcome
GE Newcome was picked up as a stray by the KCAC.  He is a very sweet boy and just loves to be with you wherever you are and whatever you are doing.  He is good with people and dogs.  Not tested with cats.  He loves to go for walks and ride in the car.
  Clara Belle
Clara Belle was found in the Bakersfield area.  She is a very sweet and playful girl.  She gets along well with dogs, adults and children.  She is house trained.  She rides well in the vehicle and loves to go for walks, play at the dog park.  She is all puppy and still a bit mouthy.  She would do well with an active family with childreen.  she is spayed and ready to find a home of her own and a family to love.
