Welcome to Golden Empire Basset Rescue, Inc.

************************************

GEBR IS IN CRISIS!!

Due to the lack of foster homes, GEBR will no longer be able to take in homeless bassets.

Foster homes are  necessary to help us continue our work with homeless bassets.

Golden Gate Basset Rescue is full themselves after taking in and finding foster homes for 61 bassets.

Once again Basset Rescue Inc has bailed us out but they can no longer keep doing so.  They have their own large area to cover and 100 hounds to care for.

Please help us cover our own area & save basset lives.  Fostering is not easy & is not for everybody.  If you would like to be part of rescue and do one of the hardest & yet most rewarding jobs in rescue contact:

Jill at jpx@sbcglobal.net

or

Dian at gebr@bak.rr.com

Other positions are also available.  If you have a specific job or skill that you would like to put to use please contact us at the above email adresses.

THANK YOU

THE BASSETS ARE RETURNING TO THE WADDLE!!!!

You've missed us.  Now we're back.

On Sat. May 15th basset hounds will invade Kingsburg CA for the annual Swedish Festival.

We'll meet at Memorial Park to prepare for the Parade.  After the Parade, we'll return to the park for lunch and the awarding of prizes for the best costumes and wagon decorations. You'll have plenty of time to check out the raffle tables.

WE WILL HAVE SOME SERIOUS BASSET SWAG. BRING LOTS OF CASH, CHECKS AND CREDIT CARDS.

We'll post more info as the Parade gets closer.

Please take the time to browse our site, check out whether adoption of a Basset Hound is right for you, and/or see how you can help in other ways.  If you have any questions or would like additional information, please contact gebr@bak.rr.org

GEBR is proud to be a member of West Coast BROAD (Basset Rescue Organizations Allied Division) - a basset rescue network of 501(c)(3) organizations based on the west coast of the USA, that works together to ensure that every possible hound is rescued.

Highlighted Dogs
See all the Dogs!
  Maggie
Maggie is a 2 1/2 year old basset hound.  She is spayed and up to date on her shots.  Maggie has been moved from home to home quite a bit in her young life and as such she is a bit timid when meeting new people and dogs.  We would not recommend Maggie for a home with very young children.  Maggie prefers women over men and her personality is best described as moody and pouty.  She will test the boundarys and rules.  Maggie will need a stable routine and home life.&nb...read more about Maggie
  Dusty
Dusty is a great guy.  He would love to have a home of his own with lots of property to patrol.  He is a great watch dog and has a distinctive bark.  Dusty is currently working on learning how to walk on a leash.  He loves people and other dogs.  He is a bit cautious when he first meets people but he warms up quickly.  He likes to ride in the car and he loves the dog parks.  Dusty is a mixed breed.  As near as we can tell he has some Basset Hound, Queensla...read more about Dusty
  Trish
Trish is a very sweet girl who wants to be by your side.  She is a good watch dog.  She loves to go for walks, rides in the car and dog parks.  Basically she is happy to do any activity that involves her people.  She does not like men.  we feel she will come around but is going to need paitence and loving care.   She will chase and bark at cats.  Trish is ready to find her forever family to share her life with.
  Clemmentine
Clemmentine is one of our Golden Girls.  She was very overweight when she first came to rescue.  She was placed on a diet and just recently had surgery to be spayed and have two mammary tumors removed.  She is now back in her foster home and ruling the roost.  She has no problem telling the younger bassets to move out of her way.  She enjoys her food and is protective of her food.  Clemmy is missing a few of her upper molars but that sure does not stop her from eati...read more about Clemmentine
  Tank
Tank was picked up as a stray by the KCAC.  He appears to be more lab than basset but we could not leave him there in the shelter.  He has multiple cysts and a large mass on his back leg.  He is also severely arthritic.  He is a very gentle old soul and would prefer a quiet home where he can be the only dog.  Children would not be recommended for Tank as he is arthritic and will startle snap if disturbed.   Do  you have room on your couch and bed for ...read more about Tank
  Dolly
Dolly was found in the Kingsburg area.  She is a pretty young lady and is searching for a family of her own.  She is very sweet and loves to cuddle with you on the couch.  She rides well in the car and enjoys walks.  She gets along well with humans, not tested with younger children.  She has not been tested with cats.  She is an active hound.  She also loves to be on the couch with you.  Can Dolly be your couch warmer?
