Golden Empire Basset Rescue is a volunteer organization, founded in 2007, that finds homes for
abandoned, abused and unwanted basset hounds. Our territory includes Kern, Tulare, San Luis
Obispo and Inyo counties. We are also covering Fresno, Kings and Monterey counties at this time
as Basset Rescue of Central California is on hiatus.
Our hounds come to us from shelters and owner relinquishments. They receive veterinary care
that includes necessary vaccinations, heartworm testing and spay/neuter. They are usually place in foster homes where our volunteers evaluate behavorial and social issues and give
them food and love. Ideally, the hound is placed in a forever home where the special bond
between companion animal and family members can blossom.
